Public Beaches Around Myrtle Beach

The City of Myrtle Beach is the economic hub of the 60 miles of beach known as the "Grand Strand".
There are other communities up and down the Strand, i.e. North Myrtle Beach and Surfside Beach,
but visitors usually consider the whole area as Myrtle Beach. However there are big differences.
As you move further, north or south, from Myrtle Beach, things seem to slow down and get less crowded.
The giant condos lining the beach are further apart and there are more vacant lots.

There is one official public beach access in Myrtle Beach located at the State Park.

Driving Directions:
From Myrtle Beach: Drive 3 mi S. of downtown Myrtle Beach on Hwy Business 17. Look for park sign on the left.

There are almost a dozen of unofficial access points: those vacant lots.
If you cruise Ocean Blvd you will see a break in the buildings. Your problem is finding a legal parking spot.
